picture this, me

Transitioning a bit tonight. Seems lonelier, and I find myself wanting to be busy. Last time here it took me about 6 days to get over the "what the hell am I doing here" feelings. This time I prepared to let them come. It's necessary for me to let myself feel lonely in order to get quiet enough to begin to really feel.

Scandan wash, same spot as yesterday

Today was a working tasky sort of day. Hardware store, groceries, and stop to visit Scott - Dustyfoot in town. Back to the trailer to continue drying everything out - which it pretty much is. The pad wasn't completely dry, so I'll put the pad and rug in tomorrow. Went and watched stars tonight outside the trailer with my binoculars - which are terrible for this sort of use. In fact since the day I bought them I haven't found anything that they're useful for. But the stars were and are beautiful, and I could see Mars and Venus (I think Venus) as well as a very bright milky way. Kind of antsy, nervous, - the usual transition stuff. Barsik however has been great and even thought about going outside as you'll see below. Had a nice bicycle ride both morning and night and hiked around this little area looking at the washes (dry creek beds).

Went for a walk and as I was leaving the sky above the trailer caught my fancy. Town is in the distance.

This is my favorite tree here in desert, and I always find it along the dry creek beds. Anyone know the name?

I found this rock hammer on the way back and noticed that the point was worn completely round. I wonder what kind of person you have to be to actually wear the pointy end of a rock hammer away. What is their life like, and what how did their relationships go. I turned around and saw this -below
It's a little miner camp about 200 yards from my trailer. Probably he's asleep under the stars right now dreaming of gold and silver.
Here's a shot of Scaddam wash. The miner camp, which I found a few minutes after taking this picture is off to the left. He/she must use this wash a road to go back up into the mountains.

While it would be great to find gold, my day was much more pedestrian. The water deluge from yesterday had soaked the cabinet below the sink and made a mess of every dish. So I got to wash all dishes.

And in good desert manners I used the wash water to wash the trailer. I started doing that on the last trip and surprisingly the results are pretty good. It's difficult to see washing the truck and trailer with fresh water that I have paid for, so this suits my Scottish blood, and makes me feel ecologically good too.

Final picture - though Barsik made this attemp earlier in the day when it was warm. He got this far and thought the traffic noise behind us was too loud. But he almost did it, almost went outside.I prefer that he be a little be reticent as I want him to come back by himself, and I'd love to get the litter box out of the trailer.

Night chickies. No posting tomorrow I think - much much to do. So unless naked booksellers or larger issues of national concern arise (black helicopters), I'll post again in two days.
