Transitioning
a bit tonight. Seems lonelier, and I find myself wanting to be busy.
Last time here it took me about 6 days to get over the "what
the hell am I doing here" feelings. This time I prepared to
let them come. It's necessary for me to let myself feel lonely in
order to get quiet enough to begin to really feel.

Less talk, more pictures.
Being drawn more and more into the desert, less and less in common with
the RV'ers who are nuts an crowd and crowd.
 |
Fish
fossils - part of town life. Many fossls, flint knappers, obsidian
soakers - water and bleach is the secret to successful Knapping.
I thought they said napping and I'm a pro.
Maybe knapping
pictures in the future. |
 |
Just
to give you a feel of the number of people here, all trying to get
to the intersection of I-10 and AZ 95. Well over a hundred thousand
people are trying to squeeze by each other here. No way the pictures
show it.
Butch and Gail,
you can just see the guard house to LTVA - 1st drive, with the flag.
Unrecognizable.
In my spot,
my little gravel yard are now 2 giant motorcoaches and one fifth
wheel and me. Two of them will be gone tomorrow thank god.
|

|
Here'
another look at the same mess. All these people are competing to get
to a big big tent filled with RV stuff. Now you can see any of this
stuff on the internet anytime, but they have free stuff like calenders,
etc. The wait once you reach the big tent is about an hour in line
to have advertisers pitch to you. Maybe I'm missing something? |

The
desert world where I spend more and more time now that town is crowded
with tourists.
I seem to have
less and less in common with people as a whole. Their aspirations
are not mine, the materials they desire are not the ones I desire.
I do envy them
their success at getting expensive stuff, and having lots of friends.
I do envy the friends if not the stuff.
I think because
it is quiet out here, my mind stops making so much noise.

Walking in the hills to the west of the big wash.Headed for gold
test holes.
This is my ironwood
walking stick, coyote killer, barsik avenger. Haven't got within
wacking distance and the desire is beginning to fade.
|
 |
 |
There's
a gold test hole now! See they grey clay at the back of the hole?
That's what everyone seems to look for. |
 |
Here's a closer
view of the grey rock at the back of the holes. |
 |
Stone house
on my walk, once a major find for me, but as my back has improved
back to normal, it is just a way point to anf from the mountains
behind.
The date in
the floor is 1951 D.F.C Just the one room with a fireplace and oven
above. Tourists are defacing it and taking one rock at a time. Since
the rock is identical to all the surrounding rock it seems stupid. |
Been
a long time without people to talk to. Luckily there is Wilson.
Wilson likes
the quieet too, rarely talks and stays out of the trailer. |
 |
Of course coming
home after a few hours and guessing acurately where the heck that is,
is satisfying too. You can see la casablanca in the distance with my trailer.
