Well it is Friday night
and Scott is working in near darkness to get the dish connected.
As will all installation of more than one piece - it didn't go smoothly,
but it has reflected well on Scott. He spent hours on the phone
with the Hughes Company Direct Way support only to find that they
had sent the wrong firmware modems to Quartzsite (about 22 of them).
They tried to ship overnight, but there isn't any overnight delivery.
So then they were doing to drive down the correct modem from Salt
Lake City but first they called the boss of the company who is in
Quartzsite, who said, no, he has two of them, and it goes on and
on - another dealer supplied a brand new modem out of the crate
that has the write date and firmware and those we are off and workiing
at 6pm.

Busy day, but no pictures yesterday. I got all my signing
up down with the satellite people and my installation is scheduled
for tomorrow at 8am. I'll be bringing my trailer to the middle of
town (next to the netcafe) and living there until the installation
is complete. Today I'm getting masage in a half an hour and then
heade to the hardware store. I'll take pictures of my work on the
banana wrap (remaining damaged one) and also of my installation
of the last plate - port hole for the cabling. I'll drill one hole
in the floor and try and set up a place for the two modems and the
wireless. The more I do, the less it costs. You can see visit Scott's
site - Dustyfoot.com by clicking

Alan wakes
in the desert with a friend. Psst. . . Tedd, I think she has
a sister.
These photos were all taken with 30 yards of each other and
50 yards from my trailer. |

The first winter rain in 10 years, the week
I arrived set the stage for an explosion of life in the Sonoran
desert. The flowers are just starting, as you can see from
the many buds. Next week should be a carpet of blue and yellow. |
