Standard
disclaimer for the entire website. I submit for your inspection
the boiling of a fevered mind, a primary fermentation of the
must, unencumbered with any actual facts or research. My views
and opinions owe no allegiance to any country, man, or corporation
(don't get me started on that!).
Instead
you'll find a collection of caffeine inspired observations,
usually mine, but who knows. Occasionally you may find something
seems true, but I take no responsibility for that. The sum
of the whole is simply factuous, from the pseudo Latin, meaning
fact-like guessing. This is the same sort of work that Tom
Paine did in the Revolutionary war, which is why I've named
the site "Common Sense" as he did his little broadsides
which actually helped change quite a bit. William Randolph
Hearst did a similar service for us in his newspaper chain
just before the Spanish American war which resulted in the
Cuban missile crisis a few years later. It's all tied together.
Look it up. Its not my fault.

Bicycle travel:
One
problem I continually run into with this lifestyle is how
to bring a bicycle along with me. I hate to run the truck
to go 1/2 mile to the store. Also one of the most important
benefits of this lifestyle is exploring new places. I first
thought that I would buy used cheap bicycles and not pay too
much attention to security. While that worked for a year,
eventually the bicycle was stolen one time that I left it
unlocked for about a week. It was a $25 bicycle so I was surprised
that anyone would take it. However it was not a pleasure to
ride, looked like crap, and I simply have no easy way to carry
it.
Full sized bicycles require a bumper racks - which is a bad
idea with the airstream attached, or roof racks which would
work, but leave the bicycle constantly exposed to the elements
to say nothing of the problem of getting the bicycle up and
down. As you can see from the picture above, my solution was
a Dahon folding bike. It can be stored in the trailer or back
of the truck and it folds up in 15 seconds very tiny. Since
it weighs only 25 lbs. I can carry into a coffee shop, etc.
The most important advantage for me is that I have fewer security
concerns and can have it available without climbing on the
roof of the truck. There are many advantages of these bikes
which are very popular in Europe. Check
them out!
